Most Improved Player – Hedo Turkoglu

MOST IMPROVED PLAYER

Hedo Turkoglu

Hedo Turkoglu won the “Most Improved Player” award this year. I wanted to make a few jokes about this award, but after checking who won it…it probably means something. Being mentioned in the same breath with guys like Monta Ellis (06-07), Gilbert Arenas (02-03) and T-Mac (00-01) really means something. They are all-stars and guys who will be all-stars in the near future.

As if you didn’t know: This award is presented to the player who has made the most dramatic improvement from the previous seasons. He beat guys like Rudy Gay and LaMarcus Aldridge (by a landslide). I love it when this award goes to older players (older means 27+…man, NBA players are treated like horses or something, considerd old when they hit 30).

I always considered him to be a decent player on a decent team, but he took quite a jump this year. 19.5 points/game, 5.7 rebounds/game, 5 assists/game and .456 FG% – all career-highs…in the same year. Breakout season? Yes, sir.
