Cavaliers vs. Celtics – Game 7 (Quick) Recap

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Boston Celtics

92 – 97

Thank God that somebody reminded Paul Pierce before the game that he used to be a top-scorer. He can still do it, 41 points on 23 shots and double digit free throws. Without his effort, this game could have easily gone to the Cavaliers. Not that it was that close until the 4th, but Pierce was trading baskets with LeBron and kept the Celtics on top. He lost the duel, but won the war.

Paul Pierce – 41 points

Cleveland Cavaliers:

  • Is Mike Brown still alive? Can somebody search out if he isn’t dead since April or something? LeBron is a great player, no doubt about it, but his coach is awful and makes things even harder for him. Giving LeBron the ball top of the key and telling the other Cavs to stand around and watch him is his best play…way to go.
  • LeBron tried to do everything himself in the first 6 minutes of the game and allowed the Celtics to get a big lead fast. Don’t get me wrong, it can be a very good thing if your top-scorer takes over (and refuses to pass /sarcasm), but it shouldn’t happen in the first minute. It makes your offense easy to stop and kills the confidence of your teammates – confidence is a big part of making shots in a 7th game in the playoffs.
  • LeBron James45 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds, 2 steals – great performance
  • Only one Cavalier not named LeBron scored in double digits – no big surprise – LeBron was the only player on the Cavs roster to even attempt more than 8 shots
  • Boston lead by 9-10 points the whole game, but the Cavaliers just wouldn’t let up and they somehow nearly took the lead late in the 4th. Too bad that they beat themselves with bad execution in the last 2 minutes – bad shots and turnovers

LeBron – 45 points

Boston Celtics:

  • Today it was basically get the ball to Paul Pierce and get the hell out of the way.” – Kevin Garnett on Paul Pierce
  • Pierce couldn’t have chosen a better time to light it up. 41 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals
  • The Celtics are the better team and they still struggled big-time to beat the Cavaliers. Their next opponent is so much better than the Cavaliers and I’m pretty sure that they have to start winning on the road to get to the Finals, because Detroit is a great playoff road team. The Eastern Conference Finals will be real good – Boston vs. Detroit – best east series in a long time
  • Garnett and PJ Brown are the only other Celtics in double digits scoring
  • Rajon Rondo wasn’t that good yesterday, but he somehow went for 3×8 – 8 points, 8 assists, 8 rebounds – I didn’t notice that at all
